Skincare: What Your Acne is Telling You (Face Mapping)

Hello~ I am back with another post related to skincare. All credits to Ulookhaute, Glamour.com and Skinacea.com for the information.

Pimples on different part of your face tells you different things.  According to Chinese physicians, the pimples tell you more about your health than you know.

An article by Alex Gariano on the website Ulookhaute  shares with readers about the art of face mapping, what your body is trying to tell you through pimples. So according to that article, face mapping is a type of skin analysis whereby it tells you why pimples are appearing on different part of your face.

Please note that i have combined these information from both the Glamour.com and Skinacea.com articles for this post. Also, these are just general guidelines; everyone's skin is different. Factors like dirty hair, pillowcases, phones, makeup brushes/sponges or sensitivity to your skincare products can also be the cause.

The different zones (1 to 14) tells you the likely cause of your blemishes and how to prevent future breakouts.

Zone 1 & 3 (Forehead):
Causes - irregular sleep pattern, stress, liver issues and digestive problems.
Solution - Drink more water. Have a healthier diet; eat less sugary food and more healthier food. Practice relxation techniques.

Zone 2 (Between Brows):
Causes - Liver issues. Too much alcohol and tobacco. Weak heart.
Solution - Exercise more. Avoid alcohol and smoking. Avoid rich food like butter and cheese (Dairy).

Zone 6 & 8 (Temples):
Causes -Too much processed food. High in fats diet. Gallbladder issues.
Solution - Eat less junk food and fast food. Eat less unhealthy fats (etc. Junk food). Eat more cooling food like bitter melon and cucumbers.

Zone 7 (nose):
Causes - Poor diet. Indigestion. Constipation. Bloating
Solution - Eat less meat, salt, pungent food (garlic & spices). Eat warm temperature food  (nothing too hot or cold). Get fresh air. Exercise (walk).

Zone 4 & 10 (Ears):
Causes - Kidney issues. Lack of water.
Solution - Drink more water. Cut back on coffee, alcohol and carbonated drinks as they dehydrate you.

Zone 5 (Left Cheek):
Causes - Stress. Overeating. Nutrition difficult to absorb. Liver issues. Stomach problems. Respiratory system issues.
Solution -  Have a regular routine. Decompress and relax. Do not overeat, especially junk food. The liver is the strongest from 1 am to 3 am so sleep. It is the weakest from 1 pm to 5 pm so work is the best. Avoid smoking.
**Lower left cheek might mean poor dental health, so floss and brush regularly.

Zone 9 (Right Cheek):
Causes - Respiratory system issues. Allergies. Stress. Too much sugar.
Solutions - Avoid fast food and junk food. Avoid anything that you might be allergic to (taro, mango, seafood, etc.). Eat less sugar. Get more fresh air. Lungs are the strongest from 7 am to 9 am so do aerobic exercises during this time.Avoid smoking.

Lip Area (including area above lips ):
Causes - Constipation. Irregular bowels. Too much spicy and fried food.
Solution - Eat more fiber rich food. Eat more fruits and vegetables. Eat  less spicy and fried food.

Zone 11 & 12 & 13 (Chin and Jaw):
Causes - Hormones. Kidney imbalance.
Solution - Don't eat before bed. Eat more fruits and vegetables. Rest more. Sleep at least 7 to 8 hours. Exercise at least 20 mins every day. Relax (meditation, listen to music, yoga, etc.). Drink spearmint tea. Omega 3 to regulate hormones.

Zone 14 (neck):
Causes - Illness.
SolutionCan be a sign of your body fighting bacteria to avoid illness. Take a breather and drink plenty of fluids.

Dark eye circles: Result of dehydration. Drink more water.

Hope I have helped some of you guys. I am no doctor and i am sharing this cause I found these information interesting. I have really bad dark eye circles and pimples on my chin these days. So i'll probably try some of the solutions myself. See if it works. :)

Love146, Just thought i should share this.

Here's a video by Michelle Phan about Love146.. How a girl at the brothel touched the co-founders of Love146 with her strength and motivated them to try their best to help others like her. We can all help by sharing this to the rest of the world.

In 2002, the co-founders of Love146 traveled to Southeast Asia on an exploratory trip to determine how they could serve in the fight against child sex trafficking. In one experience, a couple of our co-founders were taken undercover with investigators to a brothel where they witnessed children being sold for sex.

Food Review: Twelve Cupcakes Vs Plain Vanilla Cupcakes

So, this is kind of late, but here is a short review of 12 Cupcakes and comparing it to Plain Vanilla Cupcakes.

Twelve Cupcakes Review:
Twelve Cupcakes is currently an international cupcake brand with stores in not only Singapore but also Jakarta, Kuala Lumpur, Taipei, Manila and Hong Kong.

The Taste:
I personally quite enjoy Twelve Cupcakes and have bought them maybe 3 times before. This time round, I shared a box of 6 with my cousin and i had 3. I chose Raspberry Vanilla, Salted Caramel and Green Tea Chocolate.
Salted Caramel. I love this. Probably my favorite out of all the cupcakes i tried ever. Sweet but not too sweet, fragrant and slightly salty; this cupcake is exactly how i had imagined a salted caramel cupcake should taste. Although i kind of like their previous design better.

Green Tea Chocolate and Raspberry Chocolate. The Green tea Choco was okay. I personally would've liked more green tea taste but for the people who are not as obsessed with green tea as i am, this is good. As for the Raspberry Choco, it is a stuffed chocolate cupcake. However, for being the special flavor of the day, there really isn't anything memorable or unique about it. Overall, an okay cupcake but will not repurchase.

The Price:
$3.20 each. (additional 50cents for their daily specials)
** I got mine for $2 each since they were having a promotion at night, probably to clear stock.

Location & Opening hours:
I got mine from ION Orchard B4-33, 11am-10pm.
Check out their website for the full outlet lists with their opening hours: Twelve Cupcakes

Twelve Cupcakes Vs Plain Vanilla Cupcakes

Locations:
As 12 Cupcakes has been around longer, they have many more stores all around Singapore and even in other countries. However, Plain Vanilla is relatively new; they currently only have 2 outlets, 1 in Holland Village another in Tiong Bahru. Hence, In terms of convenience, Twelve Cupcakes would be easier to find.

Packaging:

12 Cupcakes has a hot pink box with their logo and name printed on top in the middle.(will post a picture when i have it, sorry)
Plain Vanilla has a simple hard cardboard box tied with twine. Both boxes have cupcake holders to stabilize the cupcakes.
I personally like Plain Vanilla's packaging more since i prefer simplistic things. But in general terms, 12 Cupcakes's packaging would be more outstanding and noticeable.

Cupcakes:
For the Cupcake appearance, I personally like Plain Vanilla's cupcakes more. To me they are simple and classy.
However, to me, 12 Cupcakes wins hands down in terms of taste. I love how their cupcakes are not only pretty and perfect as a gift, they are not very sweet regardless of the rather huge amount of cream on top of it. I might be a bit biased since i do not like icing on cupcakes like most of the Plain Vanilla Cupcakes. And the icing being sweet to the point of not being able to taste anything else just kills it for me. Although the cake part is quite nice, but to me, a cupcake is nothing without an awesome tasting cream to accompany it.

Conclusion:
Twelve Cupcakes are better in general as their cupcakes are not too sweet, fragrant, moist and soft. Plain Vanilla Cupcakes are probably good for the people with a very sweet tooth and love sweet things. So i recommend Twelve Cupcakes to anyone, old or young. As for Plain Vanilla, as pretty as it looks might not be enjoyed by the older people.

Food Review: Plain Vanilla Cupcakes, Holland Village

Hey, I'm back with a food review this time. I have finally tried the Plain Vanilla Cupcakes a few days back. And crazy enough, I bought Twelve Cupcakes right after too.

So, I have been dying to try the Plain Vanilla Cupcakes for months now. It is highly raved about and is always being compared to Twelve Cupcakes.

Located at Holland Village on top of a Mexican restaurant, the bakery is really difficult to find. As it has to share the second level with a spa, the sign for the bakery is hard to spot, with the sun glaring at your face, it's almost impossible to look up and see its sign on the windows too. It is also tiny store where there is only the counter for the cupcakes, a shelf with products and a bench for you to sit with no table.

I bought 4 cupcakes in total. Salted Caramel, Vanilla Bean, Dark Chocolate Ganache and Earl Grey Lavender.

Packaging:
Very pretty and good quality. Like most cupcake box, it had those holders inside to stabilize the cupcakes. The box itself is of high quality, made with hard cardboard. The twine tie/ribbon gives it a classic and simplistic look which I love.

The Cupcakes:
At first sight, they look really good. Simple and beautiful. However, I'm sad to say, I was really disappointed with the taste.

Salted Caramel and Earl Grey Lavender. Cupcakes were really very very sweet. I gave the earl grey one to my mum and after one bite, she scooped the rest of the icing (yes icing not cream) away. I took some of the icing and tried. It was diabetic worthy. Same for the salted caramel which i finished, it was so sweet i found myself drinking water non-stop to neutralize the taste. It also unlike your usual salted caramel dessert with the taste of icing overpowering all the caramel taste. Although, i must say i quite like the cake part of the cupcake. Moist and fluffy.

Dark Chocolate Ganache and Vanilla Bean. Comparatively less sweet, the dark chocolate cupcake is quite decent but nothing special or memorable. The cake part was okay too. The vanilla bean cupcake was probably the best out of the 4 cupcakes i bought. The icing was okay, not as sweet as the other two. I loved the cake part though. It was also moist and fluffy and the vanilla inside was really fragrant.

Overall:
I would only repurchase the vanilla bean cupcake. The rest, are way too sweet and not memorable enough for me. And, frankly, for all the effort i took to locate the bakery, I would probably not buy it again unless it is really convenient or they have some unique flavor that i really want to try.

Price:
$3.50 each, Boxes of 2, 4, 6 etc.

Location & Opening Hours:
Holland Village, 34A Lorong Mambong, Singapore 277691. On the second floor opposite Harry's Bar and above El Patio Mexican Restaurant & Wine Bar. Open, Tuesdays to Saturdays 12pm to 8pm & Sundays 12pm to 6pm. Closed on Mondays.

Tiong Bahru Estate, 1D Yong Siak Street, Singapore 16864. Tuesday to Friday 11am to 8pm; Saturday 9am to 8pm; Sunday 9am to 6pm. Closed on Mondays.

Product review: Freeman: Feeling Beautiful Facial Clay Mask Avocado & Oatmeal

So...today I have a product review since I have nothing else to post about and my friend is bugging me to post something.

Credits: www.drugstore.com

According to their website, this clay mask is suppose to both nourish and purify your skin. Its rich clay dive deep to purge dirt and oils from pores. It is also filled with nutrients like Vitamin E. The Avocado and Oatmeal inside is suppose to moisturize for lasting skin softness. Skin looks and feels squeaky clean and is soft to the touch. Perfect for normal to combination skin.

My Skin: I have combination Oily and Normal Skin that is slightly sensitive at the mouth area. No major acne breakouts, just the random 2-3 pimples. I have rather enlarged pores and blackheads on my nose.

The Mask:  it is greenish in color and has a toothpaste like consistency. It applies on smoothly and easily
After having gone through 2 tubes of it and almost finishing my current one. This is more or less an essential in my skincare. I use it once a week after cleansing. I leave it on for about 15 minutes or whenever it dries and hardens. And after that I use my Laneige Water Sleeping Pack_EX since i feel like it absorbs into my skin better.

Pros:
Affordable
Cooling sensation when applied
Skin feels really smooth and soft after washing off
Fresh/Clean-feeling skin
Pimples are visibly less red and slightly smaller after using
Does not irritate my skin
Smells light and nice.
Skin feels moisturized

Cons:
Does not help with blackheads besides lightening it for the night.
No visible difference in shrinking pores
Get a little messy when applying.

Overall: I basically love this mask since it not only helps with shrinking my pimples but also leaves my skin feeling soft and smooth. It is also very affordable and easy to find.

Price: $8.20
Where to get: Guardian SG and Watson SG

Rating: 4.5/5

Disclaimer: I am not in any way an expert on skincare. These are just my personal opinions and experiences. And i am clearly not popular enough to get sponsored for anything. :)

And...Here is something that is totally unrelated and i just bought today.

Yes. I am pretending to be classy and drinking $20 tea. Worth every penny, this tea is awesome and really fragrant. And isn't the box just so pretty?

2014. New posts. New me.

After 4 years of having not posted anything, I am finally back. It is time for change. Past posts of me sounding like a whinny spoilt brat are gone. The very random rants about hating everyone were deleted too. Blogs were a trend for awhile, back in 2010. But like everyone else, I forgot about it and moved on with life. My very awesome friend randomly reminded me of the existence of blogs and I just so happened to remember mine.

Ahh , so ,cause I am bored, I am back. Officially? Maybe. More mature? Definitely.
I will probably be posting pictures of my attempt at nail art ( my current obsession, even with the lack of skills) and other random events/happenings in my life.

However, since its the exam period (I'm cheating with a short break) and I have almost no life currently, I shall just post my two new favourite songs. Enjoy~ :)

Now, doesn't Taeyeon just look and sound absolutely awesome?
Ps. I chose to keep three of my very first few posts. Just cause some memories are worth keeping and I had fun reading my past (very childish) posts. :)
